Background. Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly being integrated into modern dentistry, demonstrating significant potential in diagnosis, medical image analysis, treatment planning, and outcome prediction. At the same time, its practical application remains limited due to insufficient training among specialists, limited access to technology, legal considerations, and distrust of algorithms. Further effective integration of AI into clinical practice requires not only technological development but also systematic training of dentists and formation of digital competencies. The aim of this study was to assess dental surgeons’ level of awareness of the practical applications of AI technologies, as well as their personal attitudes toward these technologies in clinical practice. Materials and methods. An anonymous questionnaire comprising 29 questions was developed, consisting of a social section and specific single-choice questions assessing dentists’ level of awareness of, and interest in, AI-based tools, particularly in the planning and performance of dental implantation. The survey was conducted from May to June 2026; participation was voluntary. Descriptive and analytical statistical methods were used for data analysis. Results. The gap between declared interest (81.5 %) and actual implementation (33.3 %) of AI in routine practice was substantial, clearly illustrating a technology adoption gap. A total of 70.4 % of respondents had only partial or no understanding of AI tools, while 81.5 % expressed interest in using them. This was confirmed by the overall composite indicator “perceived usefulness of AI” (Cronbach’s α = 0.84; 95% confidence interval: 0.76–0.90). Conclusions. Physicians’ interest in using AI technologies is high; the main obstacles to integrating AI into routine clinical practice are insufficient knowledge and inadequate practical skills. At the same time, AI-based tools have significant potential for identifying and analyzing key factors associated with the risk of postoperative complications.
